Solve a murder at Hogs Back Brewery this autumn

Join Guildford Shakespeare Company at Hogs Back Brewery for A Brew to a Kill, on various dates from October through November.

How often have you said “I’d kill for a beer”? Audiences will be facing exactly that with GSC’s next production, A Brew to A Kill, where you will help solve the murder mystery.

Following on from the success of Boeing, Boeing, Gone! staged on a real 747 and The Housetrap set at West Horsley Place, audiences will be plunged into Hogs Back Brewery in Tongham into the lives of brewing family, the Gloucesters, whose fortunes are about to assume a deadly turn.

Set in the 1950s and inspired by Shakespeare’s Wars of the Roses cycle, siblings George, Edwina and Richard each have their own vision for the struggling family business, but with a rival brewery and local gangster circling, tensions are already running high.

When George is found drowned in a barrel of ale, the brewery’s grand relaunch quickly becomes the scene of a murder investigation, and it is up to the audience to uncover who is responsible.

You’ll be part of the investigation, stepping into rooms across Hogs Back Brewery, including the Hop Hanger, Brewery House, Dutch Barn and Trade Office, as well as another secret location.

Moving around, you’ll meet the characters, interrogate suspects, hunt for clues and piece together the evidence, with every room revealing another twist in the family’s tangled story.

With time running out, you’ll put your detective skills to the test and decide who you can trust before making your final accusation.

A Brew to a Kill runs from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 15 November 2026.

Tickets cost £35 per adult and £18.50 for those under 16.
