Celebrating its 15th year in Oxfordshire, Big Feastival returns this August Bank Holiday with a diverse mix of music, food and family entertainment. From indie-rock favourites to award-winning chefs, find out what’s on the line-up in 2026.

Big Feastival is back in Oxfordshire in 2026, bringing celebrated musicians, Insta-worthy food and an abundance of family fun when it takes over Blur bassist, Alex James’ Farm from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August 2026 – making for another cracking Bank Holiday weekend.

Who’s performing at Big Feastival 2026?

Bringing the energy, this year’s headliners include electronic music duo Basement Jaxx; The Streets, performing A Grand Don’t Come For Free in full for the first time; as well as indie pop band Bastille.

On the main stage, see drum and bass legends, RUDIM3NTAL; former Little Mix star PERRIE; alternative band, Doves, known for their soaring melodies; the powerful, piano-led pop of Freya Ridings; psychedelic rock and melodic pop outfit The Coral; as well as Ms Dynamite; comedy music trio, The Cuban Brothers; indie-rock favourites White Lies; The Ordinary Boys – and plenty more.

And it wouldn’t be Big Feastival without Barrioke, with EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson promising his trademark warmth and teasing banter.

Which chefs are at Big Feastival 2026?

And music’s not the only thing on the menu.

Award-winning chef, restaurateur and TV presenter Anna Haugh will headline the Big Kitchen stage. Chef patron of Myrtle Restaurant and The Wee Sister in London, Anna is a regular guest on Saturday Kitchen and Sunday Brunch – in 2026, Anna is due to join MasterChef as a judge, alongside acclaimed food critic Grace Dent.  

Plus, culinary talent will be leading demonstrations and workshops, including Rachel Allen of Ireland’s world-renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School and social media sensation Poppy Cooks, whose no-nonsense potato recipes have earned her a huge online following.

Throughout the weekend, Sally Abé, Emily English, Amber Francis, Tom Barnes, Matblak, Meera Sodha, Nokx Majozi, Jon Watts – and more – will also be sharing their brilliant recipes and advice.

Festival goers can also roll up their sleeves at The Big Feastival cookery schools and masterclasses, then sit back and watch expert chefs tame the flames in the festival’s very own BBQ area, The Smokery.

What family-friendly events are on at Big Feastival 2026?

Big Feastival’s child and family-friendly entertainment promises to delight younger festivalgoers throughout the weekend, too.

Children’s entertainer MC Hammer and Nick Cope provide high-energy, music-filled storytelling; little ones can see Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse, show off dance moves at the K-Pop Demon Hunters Disco, enjoy circus-antics of The Flying Seagull Project, and get creative outside in nature with Lizzie’s Way Woodland Play.

Petersfield Shakespeare Festival Returns with a Magical Midsummer Night’s Dream

In 2021, as lockdown lifted, the Petersfield Shakespeare Festival transformed the Covid nightmare into a joyous celebration with A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play’s festive spirit perfectly matched its magical setting. Although rehearsals were unusual and socially distanced, the performances thrilled audiences. Special guests, including a full moon and a rainbow, even appeared, adding to the enchantment.

A Tribute and Revival for 2025

Because the production was so successful, the festival will revive A Midsummer Night’s Dream this summer. This year’s performances will honour the late Jon-Paul Rowden, a talented actor who played Bottom. To celebrate his memory, the festival will donate all proceeds to the charity MIND.

An Enchanting Experience in Nature

Eight versatile actors will again delight audiences with a timeless classic performed beneath an ancient oak tree. This magical spot lies within the woodland wonders of Wylds Christmas Tree Farm in Liss.

The evening starts with tasty refreshments and live music at the Bottoms Up bar. Afterwards, the audience will promenade “en masse” up the hill and enter the enchanted forest. Here, fairies wage war, lovers quarrel, and an amateur acting troupe secretly rehearses a play. What could possibly go wrong?

Family-Friendly Festival Atmosphere

Visitors can arrive early to enjoy the family-friendly festival vibe and beautiful surroundings before the show begins. About Petersfield Shakespeare Festival and Wylds Farm

Now in its 13th season, the Petersfield Shakespeare Festival continues to enrich the local cultural scene. It started in 2012 when drama teachers united to feed their creative appetites during summer holidays. Since then, it has delighted audiences with outdoor theatre.

Wylds Farm focuses on creating family festive experiences for adults and children to remember. The farm hosts seasonal events year-round. For example, in November and December, the Christmas spirit shines during the Postbox Trail. Visitors send letters to Father Christmas and follow woodland signs to find the iconic red postbox atop a small hill.

Guildford Jazz & Soul Festival features 16 events across 14 venues and is celebrating the best in UK and local jazz and soul from September 4th through to October 17th

Guildford Jazz has always been about bringing the best, established UK jazz artists to Guildford. Why go to Ronnie Scott’s when you can have the same experience in Guildford?

Its first jazz and soul festival naturally includes many of the sort of artists who you could see at major venues and festivals across the UK. Headline acts include Natalie Williams Soul Family, who make a rare appearance outside their monthly sold out residency at Ronnie’s, and Bill Laurance, the five times Grammy award-winning pianist and founding member of Snarky Puppy.

Other national artists already booked to appear include jazz pianists Jason Robello and Gwilym Simcock, award-winning saxophonist Tony Kofi and the Organisation, rising jazz stars vocalist Emily Masser and saxophonist Alex Clarke, BBC Radio Jazz Records Requests presenter Alyn Shipton talking about his latest book and performing music from the Jerry Mulligan Quartets as part of the Guildford Book Festival, The Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir and guitarist Pete Roth.

Guildford Jazz’s founder, jazz bass player Marianne Windham explains why now is the right time for the festival. It was decided four years ago to organise the first locally curated Guildford Jazz Festival but just a week before it started lockdown hit. Since then Guildford Jazz has continued to grow and thrive.

It has teamed up with venues such as the Boileroom and The Stoke and attracted audiences at outdoor events and festivals and prides itself on being part of the community and having a reputation as one of the leading jazz clubs in the country.

She continues: “There are many lovers of live music locally who are still unaware of the world class music available on their doorstep. Rather than sit back and wait for them to stumble across us, we thought we would take the plunge and commit to a major high-profile festival to bring great live jazz and soul directly to music lovers who may not have heard of us, in venues across Guildford and in the streets, churches, restaurants, cafes and bars, wherever they normally hang out.

“We hope that the festival will bring the joy of live music to new listeners, bring more people back into the centre of town and be the next step in our journey to make Guildford a UK hub of creative live music.”

Enjoy a fun-filled weekend at Foodies Festival in Stoke Park, August 30th to September 1st, with a celebration of food, drink and music

Top chefs, tasty food, delicious drinks and live music are coming to Guildford for the first time with Blue, Sister Sledge and Symphonic Ibiza courtesy of the Foodies Festival 2024.

Watch MasterChef champions, Michelin-starred and top local chefs cooking their signature summer recipes in the La Española Chefs Theatre. Among those taking part are Alex Payne who has worked with Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal and now has the Michelin starred The Tudor Pass at Great Fosters, Egham. Channel 4 Sunday Brunch bread expert Jack Sturgess, aka Bake with Jack and former MasterChef winner Druv Bhaker will also be showcasing their skills.

Learn how to make show-stopping cakes in The Pots & Co Cake & Dessert Theatre with expert bakers. Great British Bake Off stars will share their best baking hints and tips live on stage with easy to make recipes that are as delicious to look at as they are to eat.

Sample new wines, champagnes and cocktails in The Drinks Theatre. Eat delicious street food from around the world. Taste new flavours and meet artisan producers. Have fun all day with chilli eating competitions and food challenges! Kids can have fun at The Kids Cookery Theatre.

At the all new cook school, get hands-on in an authentic Thai Green Curry Cook School session with MasterChef star Yui Miles. £25 per person (45 min sessions).

The Flavour Town Fire Stage will host demonstrations of amazing fire-cooked recipes all day long, such as Louisiana Cajun Chicken, salmon cooked to perfection and Cowboy Butter Tomahawk Steak. Pop along anytime you want to and stay for a taste – you won’t want to leave!

Kicking off the live music on Friday night is Symphonic Ibiza taking you on a journey through the legendary sounds of the White Isle fusing iconic Ibiza dance anthems, live vocals, a sensational DJ and an amazing live orchestra. Close your eyes and you could be back partying in Ibiza. Kathy Sledge headlines on Saturday, 31st August. The singer, songwriter, author, producer, manager, and Grammy-nominated music icon is the signature voice in Sister Sledge known for anthems such as We Are Family. The award-winning Weyfest music festival is back to rock Tilford from 15th to 18th August, writes Adaleigh Buckrell

Music lovers from one to one hundred flock to Weyfest year after year to enjoy its lively, safe and family-friendly atmosphere, to discover new artists and delight in nostalgic throwbacks and they’re eagerly getting ready for this year’s extravaganza.

This year’s incredible headliners span an eclectic mix of musical genres. Acid jazz band Incognito seamlessly blend hip-hop, funk and soul elements, while Bristol-based electronic group Kosheen will bring DnB to the stage. For rock and pop fans, Lightning Seeds and The Feeling are unmissable. Local stalls will be on hand to keep those dancing fuelled with delicious, high-quality and well priced food and drink.

Axe throwing, scaling the climbing wall and getting party with neon and glitter makeovers are just some of the other activities to take part in. Kids and adults alike can meet their favourite characters from the Dr Who and Star Wars universes in the legendary sci-fi zone. After escaping from Daleks, relax with healing therapies and yoga, or find magical clothes, jewellery, accessories and crystals for sale amongst the fairy lights.

Weyfest is ideal for festival first-timers, or those who want to avoid the mud, dirty loos and rowdy behaviour often associated with such events. The toilets are constantly cleaned and restocked and air cadets roam the site to pick up litter. The hard-working stewards are volunteers too who give up their time to keep the festival they love running smoothly.  

You will be having so much fun you won’t want to leave, so book to bring your own tent or motorhome to camp overnight or stay in a luxury canvas glamping tent, equipped with airbeds, solar lights and rugs. There are even hot showers and a breakfast bar for the morning. 

Curated by four friends driven by the desire to keep the spirit of live music flourishing in the local community, and with impeccable taste due to their musical backgrounds, it is of little surprise that Weyfest won the UK Best Small Festival award in 2019. 

Weyfest’s four stages are set up in the grounds of the Rural Life Living Museum, the largest countryside museum in southern England, which is home to around 40,000 artefacts displayed in beautiful historic buildings. Festival guests are welcome to wander around the collection, or take the dog for a walk in the exquisite surrounding woodland of the Surrey Hills. All attractions are within walking distance, or why not hop aboard the steam train to catch a backstage view?

Gold fever for Wargrave Festival

50 years on and Wargrave Festival is still serving up family favourites with more than 40 events making up 19 days of entertainment from June 12th to 30th as Ally Holloway tells us

Fifty years ago in 1974, many villagers thought he was crazy. The idea of uniting the village from the High Street to Highfield Park. They said it wouldn’t work.

The then Vicar, the late Reverend John Ratings, mused in 1974 that a village festival “would be a useful exercise to do something for village unity…” And from that, the first Wargrave Festival was held in 1975. Now it has grown into one of the biggest village festivals in the country. The festival is not-for-profit event, where proceeds go to local community organisations to improve the quality of life in the village through education, sport and culture.

This year’s 50th celebration Gold Fever, starting on Wednesday, 12th June, will feature a host of fun-filled family delights, dazzling formal events, spirited theatre and musical performances, roving culinary delights, a sporting extravaganza, a wonderfully riotous talent show, as well as the traditional Wargrave Festival Parade through the historic village down to the Village Fete opened by Wargrave resident Debbie McGee, celebrating all that makes up this splendid community. The festival will draw to a close on Sunday, 30th June with the popular family BBQ on Mill Green.

For families looking for a variety of entertainment this summer, there is a lot to look forward to. On Saturday 22nd, the Wargrave Bike Fest and Family Sports Day is more than just a bike ride. The 20km family ride will see parents and children cycling through Wargrave and neighbouring villages in search of checkpoints. Back on Mill Green, kids can pick up their Olympic Passport to collect stamps as they complete the 10 Olympic challenges including rock climbing, golf, cricket, rugby, martial arts, wrestling, tennis, rowing and more. There will be soft play for under 5s, an art & craft area to make your own gold medal and a BBQ and bar. The family sports day is free for adults and only £5 for the Olympic Passport for children 13 and under.

In the evening, there will be an enchanting night of dance, fun and family entertainment at Saturday Night Dance Fever. Witness inspiring demonstrations from talented local dancers including salsa, contemporary, ballroom, jazz, Latin and more – join in the fun group classes to learn some moves of your own and show off your fancy footwork. Tickets from £6.

It doesn’t stop there with a kids comedy event, Morris Dancing, a tennis day, the family BBQ and the Wargrave Village Parade and Fete and much more. The big finale is the Wargrave’s Got Talent night that promises to serve up some quality free entertainment, delicious food and a DJ to dance into the evening.

Guildford Fringe Festival 2024 announces this year’s line-up running from 29th June to 20th July including the return of its popular free music performances

Guildford Fringe Festival (GuildfordFringeFestival.com), which is now in its 11th year, will return for a three-week run of theatre, comedy, spoken word, music, cabaret and family-friendly shows! All at accessible prices and with some top free entertainment on the bill. 

The beautiful historic Guildhall balcony on Guildford High Street becomes the stage for a free evening of Opera on the Balcony on 30 June with arias and duets from well-loved composers such as Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, Lehár and more. This is followed by Bluebirds on the Balcony on 6 July showcasing the talents of the vintage close harmony trio. There is no need to book, just bring a blanket or chair, and settle in to be entertained.

For crime drama and true crime lovers, An Audience with Author Helen Saxton, with actors will re-enact key events and discuss the controversial story of Amanda Knox in the murder of Meredith Kercher on Monday 10th June.

Outdoor family theatre in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Thames, with a performance of The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle on Thursday 13th June.

A one hour family show of songs about science, maths and the wonders of the world around us with Helen Arney: A Voice of an Angle – as seen on BBC2, Channel 4 and Discovery – on Friday 14th June.

Step back in time, put on some 40s/50s glamour (or not!), sit back and tap your feet to the doo-wop harmonies of the Ding Dong Daddios on Saturday 15th June.

Enjoy a Glyndebourne-style opera experience, with GAP Opera: The Marriage of Figaro. Picnics, pimms, fizz and top class opera in three performances Friday 14th – Sunday 16th June.

Alongside the amazing variety of ticketed events, there are also a host of free activities and performances taking place, no ticket required – just drop in.

On Friday 7th June, pre-schoolers can bring their parents to join a morning of games, free play and interactive story with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

Join the cosmic fun of Saturday 8th June and experience all that Space Day has to offer, including blasting off a water rocket, space crafting, scale-model solar system treasure hunt and the chance to track the International Space Station live with local satellite company OrbAstro.

Visit Goring’s Rectory Garden on Sunday 9th June to join the Festival’s contribution to the national Great Big Green Week – The Great Green Food Day. Head down and discover creative ways to let eating and food play a vital part in helping tackle climate change, reduce waste and protect nature. Bring a picnic and enjoy live music, ask the experts question time, stalls, children’s activities and more, or pick up lunch from the collection of food and drink stalls and enjoy all the day has to offer.

Saturday 15th June hosts the return of the popular Festival Market Day. Enjoy browsing crafts, arts and skills from the local community, alongside face painting, refreshments and live music.

Meet and Greet the Owls at Withymead Nature Reserve on Saturday 15th June and learn all about owls, how they hunt, owl conservation and have a go at pellet dissection.

For art enthusiasts, there is a celebration of community art with a weekend long Art Exhibition from Saturday 15th – Sunday 16th June.

A chance to have a go at bell ringing with the Goring and Streatley ringers, followed by a lunchtime Festival Picnic Concert with Goring and Streatley concert band on the final day of the Festival – Sunday 16th June.

Plus a host of ‘fringe’ music events, popping up in local venues where you can sit back and soak up the Festival atmosphere with a drink in hand.
