Fox & folk in Grayshott

DATE

August 25, 2025

Grayshott Folk Club is welcoming ‘one of the true greats of the folk world’ Bob Fox on Saturday, 20th September

Bob Fox is an engaging, endearing and enduring musician who has done the folk club rounds for more years than he cares to remember.

Hailing from the north east, Bob has for almost 50 years been regarded as one of “the iconic voices” of British folk song and is deeply influenced by the working class culture and industrial history of his native County Durham, becoming a first rate exponent of storytelling through song.

A career that began during the vibrant “folk revival” of the ‘60s and ‘70s in England led Bob into regular and extensive touring throughout the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand. Firstly, with fellow North Easterner Stu Luckley in their groundbreaking acoustic duo and later alongside such musical heavyweights as Ralph McTell, Richard Thompson, Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention.

Bob who sings and plays guitar and accordion has received numerous plaudits during his career. In addition to his many albums, he has played the role of folksinger/storyteller Songman in the English National Theatre’s multi-award winning production of

War Horse in the West End between 2011-2013 as well as in touring productions in subsequent years.

Don’t miss this chance to experience Bob’s warm, rich voice, accompanied by a wonderful guitar style that can both drive or embellish his supreme singing. Expect to hear songs of love, joy, work and humour as he performs material from War Horse, newly written songs from the New Radio Ballad series and old favourites from his many recordings.

Tickets £18 are available from: Grayshott Post Office or Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096.
