Diners at award-winning The Victoria Oxshott can enjoy a series of special dining events as acclaimed chef and restaurateur Mark Sargeant joins head chef Daniel Lee and the kitchen team for a four-month residency.
Diners at award-winning The Victoria Oxshott are in for a treat this season, with acclaimed chef and restaurateur Mark Sargeant joining the kitchen team as part of a four-month residency.
The programme began with four days of dining events in September, followed by game dinners in October. This month, the focus turns to British winter seafood evenings, with a New Year event to follow.
Sargeant spent 13 years working alongside Gordon Ramsay and led the kitchen at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s. He will work closely with head chef Daniel Lee, pictured, and the established kitchen team at the three-AA-Rosette village pub until the end of the year.
The residency also builds on a connection dating back to 2014, when Lee was a finalist in National Young Chef of the Year. Sargeant served as an ambassador and head judge for the competition for six years.
Recognising The Victoria’s reputation, Sargeant described the opportunity to join the team as “incredibly exciting”.
“Dan and the team have created something quite rare – a proper village pub with a genuinely ambitious kitchen. It’s my first time cooking in Surrey, so we intend to make it memorable,” he said.
Lee added: “Having him with us across the autumn means guests can experience more of his cooking, with the relaxed hospitality they know and love at The Victoria.”
Selected dishes and ideas from Sargeant’s cooking will also feature on The Victoria’s à la carte menus.
