Dieter Shaw tells us about Beaconsfield Film Society, which screens two films a month

Since 2008, Beaconsfield Film Society has enriched the local community by screening diverse films. This not-for-profit organisation, run by a passionate volunteer committee, hosts two film screenings every month on weekends at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) cinema in central Beaconsfield.

The society carefully selects a wide range of films, blending popular mainstream movies with award-winning arthouse and international cinema. Often, a short film precedes the main feature to add variety and spark interest.

With around 450 members, Beaconsfield Film Society offers its audience the comfort of a purpose-built cinema at NFTS, located at HP9 1LG. The society appreciates NFTS for providing this state-of-the-art venue, which features Dolby Atmos 7.1 surround sound, the latest 4K projection for vibrant images, air conditioning, and 140 comfortable tiered seats with excellent sightlines.

Furthermore, Beaconsfield Film Society strengthens its ties with the school by awarding The Anthony Pickavance Bursary each year. This bursary supports a promising NFTS student, helping to nurture new generations of filmmakers and film lovers.

Members can buy tickets online here or call TicketSource on 0333 666 3366. The member reservation charge is £8, which includes a glass of wine or soft drink. Guests are welcome to accompany a member or by contacting BFS via the website (guest reservation charge £12pp). Doors open at 6.45pm for the programme starts at 7.30pm.

We look forward to welcoming you soon at one of our screenings.
