Love & light in winter

DATE

Paula Kitching tells us about the Christmas Tree Festival at St Peter & St Paul’s Church in Great Missenden on 6th & 7th December with festive dog show, live music & more

The winter months can seem so dark and cold – no wonder so many winter festivals have light as part of their tradition – Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah and Yule.

Introducing candles and sparkle has been a centuries-old tradition in UK, often combined with green foliage. Brought together with fairy lights and a Christmas tree, these evoke feelings of happiness and warm expectations.

St Peter & St Paul Church will welcome you for the Christmas Tree Festival at the church at the top of Church Lane 10am-5pm on Saturday, 6th December and 11.30am – 4.30pm on Sunday 7th.

The trees, decorated by local church and community groups, will fill the church with warmth, colour and light, and the festival will raise money to support Wycombe Women’s Aid and the Parish Church.

All visitors can enjoy festive activities, including brunch and warming refreshments inside the church, children’s activities and Santa’s Grotto, a festive dog show at 1pm on Sunday 7th – dress up your dog and win prizes! You’ll also find bell ringing, live music, arts, crafts, homemade preserves and decorations for sale, the popular Luxury Hamper Raffle and more.

It promises to be a warm hug of a celebration of the Christmas spirit appealing to all ages. For more details, contact the parish office 01494 862352 or office@missendenchurch.org.uk
