The Rose of Hungerford is 43 years old and still going strong, offering canalboat cruises

Cruise the Kennet and Avon on the Rose of Hungerford

The Rose of Hungerford is a charity-owned canal boat, crewed entirely by volunteers, offering tranquil cruises on the Kennet and Avon Canal for 43 years. Along the way, more than 150,000 passengers have raised nearly £1 million for the Kennet and Avon Trust, supporting projects like Bruce Boats, which enables canal boating for people with disabilities.

Enjoy Peaceful Wildlife Cruises

Departing from Hungerford Wharf, the boat runs relaxing trips every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, during both morning and afternoon slots from Easter to October. Onboard, passengers often spot kingfishers, herons, swans, swifts, and swallows as they drift through serene waterways.

As one TripAdvisor reviewer shares:

“A doctor on board put it best: a canal trip is nature’s valium.”

Accessible, Comfortable Onboard Experience

The vessel features a licensed bar that serves hot and cold drinks. Moreover, a wheelchair lift allows easy access, and recently upgraded restrooms support people with disabilities and their carers.

Book Private Charters for Any Occasion

You can also book private charters for events such as family celebrations, social outings, business needs—or even a black-tie dinner cruise. It’s a great way to mark special occasions on the water.

Skilled Volunteers Make It Happen

Volunteer crew members, mainly retirees, run each cruise under full Marine and Coastguard Agency training standards. Consequently, every trip is safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.
