Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity has been chosen by Squire’s Badshot Lea for its Charity of the Year Programme, helping more people access assessments and tuition regardless of their financial circumstances.
A charity which has been supporting people with dyslexia for 55 years is one of those which will benefit from Squire’s Garden Centres Charity of the Year Programme.
Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity in Farnham has been chosen by Squire’s Badshot Lea for the coming year. The branch regularly invites the charity to attend the late-night shopping evenings and selects gifts from the store for Helen Arkell to raffle.
Money raised from this and all events throughout the year, including the Helen Arkell donation tins at the tills, have all helped the charity’s bursary fund. This financial assistance for people in the Farnham, Ash & Aldershot areas (local to the Squire’s branch), helps to support more dyslexia assessments for those who otherwise could not afford the cost of an assessment.
Julie Bentley, CEO Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, thanked Squire’s and their customers for all their support. “The generously donated funds have meant we could help six local families access dyslexia assessments and tuition, who would otherwise be unable to access this support.”
The charity aims to remove barriers to learning, employment and life for people with dyslexia by providing expert, personal and life-changing support. To donate or find out more, visit helenarkell.org.uk.
Last year’s Charity of the Year Programme raised £23,577 for local charities through fundraising at all 17 Squire’s Garden Centres. Activities varied and included raffle prizes, collection boxes, and Squire’s Christmas Grottos among others.
