Attention all local crafters & knitters! Could you help create Stokenchurch’s biggest-ever handmade Remembrance display ahead of November 2026? Or donate wool or supplies?

From knitting needles to crochet hooks, felt flowers to painted recycled bottles, a heart-warming community project is uniting people of all ages to honour those who served.

Stokenchurch is aiming to create its largest-ever display of handmade poppies around the village war memorial for Remembrance Day, and everyone’s invited to play a part.

The community-wide Poppy Appeal has already inspired an incredible response, with groups including Stokenchurch Stitchers, the Stokenchurch Library Craft Group, Audley Village Knit and Natter Group, St Hugh’s Retirement Village, Stokenchurch Primary and Nursery School, Stokenchurch Lunch Club and church members creating handmade poppies.

Now organisers are hoping even more people from across Bucks will join the project.

Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing or simple craft activities, every handmade poppy will help transform the memorial into a striking tribute of remembrance and community spirit.

Even those without crafting experience can help by painting the bases of recycled plastic bottles, which will also become part of the display.

Organisers are also appealing for donations of red and purple wool and felt to help keep the project blooming.

Completed poppies and material donations can be dropped off at St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church or Stokenchurch Library.
