From weddings and garden parties to milestone birthdays, discover how timeless style, flattering hair and confidence-boosting make-up can help you look and feel your best all season long.
Garden parties, weddings and milestone birthdays… this season is sparkling with invitations. But if you’re searching for wedding guest outfit ideas and the thought of finding the perfect look, mastering your make-up or taming your hair in the heat leaves you reaching for the panic button, you’re not alone.
The good news? Looking fabulous isn’t about chasing every trend or becoming someone else. It’s about understanding what makes you feel comfortable, confident and completely yourself.
The looks created for this elegant style shoot, featuring Sapphire Dee and Francesca Quici at King’s Chapel in Amersham (photographed by Sam Roseraye and styled with dresses from Pure Couture, Beaconsfield), show exactly how timeless style can outshine fleeting fashion.
As beauty expert Jessica Swales (@jswalesmakeupandhair) explains: “Beautiful make-up should feel like an elevated version of yourself. The aim is to enhance your natural features while still looking and feeling like you. Confidence comes from recognising yourself in the mirror, not hiding behind heavy make-up.”
One of Jessica’s biggest tips is to focus on preparation rather than products. Healthy, hydrated skin creates the perfect canvas for any make-up look.
“In terms of hero products for prepping the skin, one of my favourite combinations is Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base as a moisturiser, followed by the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer. They work beautifully together to create a smooth, long-lasting base for make-up. That said, it really does depend on your skin type and concerns. Whether your skin is oily, dry, dehydrated or textured will determine which products are best suited, so I’d always recommend tailoring skincare and primer to your individual needs.”
Hair can also become a confidence challenge, particularly as we get older. Many women notice changes in texture, volume and thickness. Richard Scorer, creative director at Haringtons Hair, says occasion styling isn’t about elaborate updos or fighting your natural hair. Soft movement, texture and shape can create the illusion of fuller, healthier hair, while the right cut and colour add depth and dimension. Sometimes a subtle refresh is all that’s needed.
The real secret to style is planning. Rather than rushing to buy a new outfit days before an event, think first about how you want to feel. Relaxed? Elegant? Modern? Confident? Once you identify that feeling, the styling choices become much easier.
Accessories can also transform a favourite outfit. A statement earring, elegant clutch or fresh pop of lipstick can instantly update a look without replacing your wardrobe.
Most importantly, style isn’t about age, size or perfection. The women who look most fabulous are rarely the ones wearing the most expensive clothes. They’re the ones who feel comfortable, confident and authentically themselves.
As Jessica says: “Luxury beauty isn’t about wearing more. It’s about thoughtful artistry, attention to detail and helping someone feel the very best version of themselves.”
