Santa cruises return to the Basingstoke Canal for festive family fun

DATE

October 26, 2026

Children can follow a woodland tinsel trail to Santa’s grotto at Mytchett or meet Father Christmas aboard a canal boat in Odiham as two popular festive experiences return this December.

All aboard for Santa on the Basingstoke Canal this festive season as the popular pre-Christmas highlight returns.

From December 1st to 23rd hop on a gentle cruise aboard Rosebud at the canal centre at Mytchett, along the Basingstoke Canal to the start of the tinsel trail.

Let little ones lead the way as they follow the trail through the woods to find Santa in his canal side grotto and receive a special gift.

Cruise back to the Visitor Centre and head into Santa’s Workshop for some fun Christmas colouring activities, warm drinks and mince pies.

Spaces are limited. Tickets range from £16.50 to £24 each. Babies £4.50. All passengers require tickets. Booking is in person at the Canal Visitor Centre or via telephone on 01252 370073.

The Accessible Boating Association will also be inviting you to meet Father Christmas on the canal on selected dates in December – 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th – when the trips will run hourly.

Trips start from Galleon Marine Boatyard in Odiham, and include a short boat trip on the canal on the dayboat, Dawn. Father Christmas will be on board, with a present for all children aged 11 and under.

Tickets are £15 per head, free for babies under 12 months. Limited places are available on each trip.

Please call the Elf-line on 07934 926683 if you have any questions.
