Women’s Work Social is helping female founders in Surrey grow – without going it alone, creating a real community

So many emotions go hand in hand with starting your own business but no one tells you about the part silence can play and that’s where Women’s Work Social can help.

Founded by marketing strategist Jo Treadwell and Lauren Hopkins, who leads a team of virtual assistants, it had one goal in mind – to make running a business feel less lonely and more connected.

“We were both working for ourselves – and loving the freedom,” says Jo, “but we’d hit a point where it felt isolating. We missed the energy of being around people who got it.”

Lauren agrees: “It wasn’t just about friendship. It was the lack of somewhere to think out loud, sense-check ideas, talk through the tricky stuff or know where to take your business next – without feeling like you were bothering someone.”

What started with a few casual meetups has grown into a vibrant, loyal community of women-led businesses in and around Surrey with events that fill up fast and an ever growing community of members.

From co-working sessions and strategy-led Business Bites to feel-good evening socials, Women’s Work Social has become the trusted space where real business support happens between the croissants and coffee.

“These women aren’t here to sell at each other,” Jo says. “They’re here because they care about what they’re building – and want to be around people who care too.”

Lauren adds: “You’ll meet designers with waitlists, first-time founders planning their first hire, and consultants mapping out six-figure years – all in the same room. It’s real range, without ego.”

The events are designed to be welcoming, purposeful, and practical, not just a pat on the back. Topics range from AI and pricing to visibility and mindset.

Jo says: “Women come to one event curious and leave with new clients, collaborators, and confidence. That’s what this is about: genuine relationships that move your business forward.”
