The South Downs Show returns for a fun-filled family weekend in Petersfield

Jousting knights, birds of prey, dog shows, dinosaurs, live entertainment and hands-on activities are all part of the action as the South Downs Show returns to Queen Elizabeth Country Park this August.

Awesome arena acts, entertaining attractions, animals, children’s rides, country life stalls, festival bar and catering, live music and much, much more…

The South Downs Show at the beginning of August is set to be unmissable with many of the much-loved arena acts from last year returning to delight again.

The Knights of Nottingham will take to the arena with their Robin Hood Experience packed with sword swinging and gut punching thrills. Watch Little Nippers’ Terriers race both over obstacles and at full speed chasing the electric lure and you’ll have the chance to “have a go” with your own dogs – whatever their breed!

Ridgeside Falconry will show a static display of approximately 15 birds of prey from around the world, including owls, falcons, hawks, eagles and vultures, plus spectacular free flying displays lasting between 20-30 minutes each.

Bring your furry friends to the free to enter Dog Zone, a dedicated area for all dog lovers with dog-themed stalls and charities selling treats, accessories, leads and collars, painted cups and bags, physiotherapy and so much more. A specific arena will host live dog shows and talks throughout the day for paw-some fun.

If you’ve never seen sheep dance before you don’t know what you’ve missed, get hands on with the Reptile Academy, ferret racing and fluffy alpacas all add animal fun to the weekend.

There are demonstrations galore to watch or even take part in, find “treasure” with the metal detectorists or watch skilled woodcarvers create some beautiful pieces or travel back in time with reenactment groups at the event such as Anglo Saxons and a 15th century troupe.

The South Downs Show is the perfect country show for the whole family with plenty to do for children including an impressive helter skelter and awesome animal exhibits, not forgetting dinosaurs with the Jurassic safari team. Have a go at circus skills including spinning plates, diabolo, fun pedals, mini bikes, stilts, tight wire, unicycles and more.

This year will also see more displays for you to enjoy in the second arena at the show​.
