We chat to radio 1 star Charlie Hedges who is bringing her party-starting tunes to Rowachella in Aston Rowant on 14th June, and have a pair of tickets to win

Rowachella beer and music festival, on Saturday, 14th June 2025 (4pm-1am), invites you to don your most flamboyant festival attire & enjoy the fourth instalment of this community favourite which started in 2022.

This year’s theme is palm trees, neon, flamingos and cocktails… with an house music, alt-electro and indie soundtrack. (Think California tropical vibes but with the backdrop of the Chiltern Hills in Oxfordshire… what’s not to like?!)

The family-friendly event promises a warm welcome for party-goers of all ages with two stages- the main stage is set in a gigantic big top tent and dance tent, Angie’s House, named after the beloved landowner who has greeted and applied wristbands to festival goers every year since Rowachella started!

Rowachella champions local bands and DJs to play their own material and put their unique twists on covers. Chart-topping and Brit-nominated electronic music producer Goddard will star, as well as Holiday Mystics from Tasmania, and Bloc off the Wall, back by popular demand after wowing the crowd as last year’s headliners!

Thanks to a partnership with Renegade Brewery you can refresh yourself at the bar with beers from Brewski Peach lager to their Queensbury Jack IPA & there will be delicious food galore.

The festival raises funds for Aston Rowant Cricket Club which encourages youngsters into the sport and has a track record of supporting women’s cricket with two players (Maia Bouchier and Linsey Smith) currently playing in the England Women’s cricket team. Everyone who organises and works at the event is a volunteer which gives the whole event a lovely, friendly family vibe.

We caught up with Radio 1’s Charlie Hedges who will bring her dance anthems set…

Q. Hi Charlie! What’s your first memory of music? “Sitting in the kitchen with my mum and dad when I was a kid listening to the radio and asking them what that job was called… They explained what a radio presenter was and I remember thinking I want to be one of those.”

Q. What’s your best festival memory, either as a punter or as a DJ? “As a DJ it was playing Isle of Wight festival, I was coming on after a massive rock band and after they performed the whole tent (thousands of people) cleared out. I remember thinking ‘oh my gosh please fill up again…’ and It did, I remember for the first time feeling really proud of myself and it was one of the most exciting gigs I’d played as I watched the crowd rebuild!”

Q. What’s your essential bit of festival kit? “Dry shampoo and some baby wipes.”

Q. Who’s been your biggest musical influence? “In terms of DJs, Avicii & Swedish House Mafia.”

Q. Tough one but what’s your favourite tune? “Favourite classic of all time has to be Sandstorm.”

Q. Is there any surprising musician genre you’re also into?! “I’m a massive indie fan; that’s what I listen to when I’m not listening to dance.”

Q. What’s on your rider? “A couple of ciders and some water lol.”

Q. How do you take good care of your mental health? “Surrounding myself with my family and friends to be honest.”

Q. What advice would you have for anyone whose children are off to their first festival this summer?! “Remember it was your first festival once upon a time, so be excited for them, chat about it after and start to build amazing memories with them… and go with them! My parents took me to my first gigs and festivals and I have the best memories with them.”

Q. Finally, if you could make one wish for the world, what would it be? “To give people more time – more time with family, more time with friends and with the people they love.”

We have a pair of tickets to each show to be won. To enter our prize draw, fill in the form below before 12pm on Friday 30th May.
